In terms of sheer volume, last summer's trade between the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and the Rimouski Océanic has to rank right up there.

To Rouyn

8th round pick 2010 Midget Draft
9th round pick 2010 Midget Draft
5th round pick 2011 Midget Draft
1st round pick 2010 Euro Draft

To Rimouski
Alex Émond
Étienne Boutet
3rd round pick 2009 Midget Draft
7th round pick 2009 Midget Draft
9th round pick 2009 Midget Draft
10th round pick 2009 Midget Draft
4th round pick 2010 Midget Draft

Certainly doesn't compare to the monster volume trade as above, but thought the Tavares deal a couple years back was big:

To London:
Tavares
Del Zotto
Borden

To Oshawa:
Christian Thomas
Scott Valentine
Michael Zador
London's 2nd round picks in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012
London's 3rd round picks 2010, 2011

And still... this trade isn't finished yet...

The Brad Marchand trade was big in return value for Val D'Or.

To Halifax:

Brad Marchard

To Val D'Or:

Maxime Sauvé
1st pick 2008
1st pick 2009
2nd pick 2008
2nd pick 2009
3rd pick 2009

No wonder Halifax has finished last for the past two years. And thinking that Marchard screwed the team with his attitude... he didn't even play the last game in the playoffs, he was a healthy scratch!

how big was the lindros deal? with Soo and Oshawa?

This is the trade that popped up in my head, but I couldn't remember the details. I looked it up and found this:

Rights traded to Oshawa (OHL) by Sault Ste. Marie (OHL) for Mike DeCoff, http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=1287

Jason Denomme,
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=1329

Mike Lenarduzzi
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=3109

and Oshawa's 2nd round choices in 1990 (Drew Bannister)
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=196

and 1991 (Dave Roach) OHL Priority Drafts, December 18, 1989.
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=17996

I think they meant Gary Roach, not Dave. Lindros was a crazy good player, and the Sault got some decent value in that trade when you look at what those players did for the hounds. 5 good junior players for 1 is pretty sweet, and both teams won the deal. Oshawa got their OHL title immediately followed by the Sault getting 2 in a row thanks to this trade.

2004 1st round pick, and 2005 1st round pick (previously acquired from Halifax)

Part 3
Dec 24, 2003
Halifax trades to Cape Breton

I think this is the biggest one IMO

How do you figure London got the better of that deal? Had they won a championship, I might agree. They didn't even reach the OHL finals.

This deal happend last year... not a few years back ?

BNut ya, London gt the better end imo.

I think Oshawa got the better end by far, and I don't think it is even close. London got half a year out of those three players and no championship. Oshawa will be collecting on that deal for a couple more years.

Wow, crazy...we WHL fans just don't see trades like that. Some teams wouldn't trade with an arch-enemy (eg. Lethbridge would rather chew off their arms than trade a player to Calgary) and others just don't trade their high picks.

It's gotta always be a trade from the Q. It is amazing some of the shady ******** some of their GM's try to pull stacking up one team to even remotley have a chance at knocking of a team from the WHL or OHL. You never see those type of ********* deals take place in the Dub.

Here is a trade I'm surprised deangamblin missed.

Traded by Portland (WHL) Ray Ferraro, Brad Dugan, Derek Laxdal, Dave Thomlinson and Tony Horacek to Brandon in exchange for Blaine Chrest in August 1983. Four players that played in the NHL + for one that didn't.

It wasn't as huge name wise as the Tavares trade, but Adam Dennis to London for Ryan MacDonald and 3 draft picks put the final nail in the London Knights Memorial Cup. Without Dennis, I don't think London wins the whole thing.

Holy crap. Did the Brandon GM have incriminating pictures of the Portland GM or something? Was that the whole deal?

To the best of my knowledge. Googled it and its all I can come up with. Pretty sure it is was only Blaine Chrest for the rest.

This is the first deal that popped into my head... just ridiculous. Good on you for being able to keep it all straight!

Those kind of deals are not allowed anymore, are they?

No you can't, A player cannot be traded back to a team he was traded from.

Biggest one in Bulls history in terms of anticipation and excitement was definitely Spezza to Belleville for Kyle Wellwood. Two of the best players in the OHL being traded for eachother made some big headlines for sure.

London still wins. Gerald Coleman would have closed the door and that London offense was still too good. If Sidney Crosby and the Oceanic had say 8 goals on London, London would have had 9!
