So, what is the biggest non-goal crowd reaction you have ever seen live?

Let’s also leave out pre and post game events like retirement applause and award...err... awarding.

Mine goes back quite a few years, but watching Craig Berube drive Rich Sutter headfirst into the boards totally dropped a bomb on the whole crowd.

From the way he was hit and his lack of movement afterwards, everyone there (including Rich’s twin brother Ron, who was on Berube’s team) was sure we had just seen someone get paralyzed.

17,000 people gasping and then going absolutely silent was one of the most intense moments I have ever witnessed.

Fortunately, Rich’s injury did not end up as bad as was initially feared. Although I do often wonder what Ron would have done if it was.
