There's no argument for Coffey whatsoever - this is Lidstrom

In that other thread there was discussion of Coffey > Lidstrom, but this was specific to single season peak, maybe 2-3 years at most, and single playoff run. Those are much more interesting comparisons. Overall though, Lidstrom certainly wins this

Agreed. If it's best peak - there's an argument for Coffey. If it's better player overall - this is one of those occasions when the overused "not even close" is actually appropriate.

Lidstrom’s peak is getting underrated though imo.

His peak was the best defenceman in the world... it just happened to last for like 6-7 years.

I like Coffey more as I like flash, like Karlsson more also, prefer Lemieux over Gretzky. But Lidström was too consistent and the perfect defensive player to choose Coffey for better player over all.
