I prefer Toews but I think this has to be Kane.
Toews does have the international success though.

If we’re talking just NHL then it’s clearly Kane.

If we’re including international play then its much closer.

Kane is obviously the better player but I would probably rather have all of Toews' achievements than Kane's personally. Captain of 3 cups, multiple Olympic gold, world Jr gold, World cup, etc. literally wins everything he plays in. I'm not going to say he wasn't very fortunate to have some amazing teammates but at the end of the day he contributed in large to all of those wins.

I don't know how you could vote for Toews, and I'm a huge fan of his. The career numbers, accomplishments, consistency, and health of Kane are unquestionably better.

Leadership and international play don't close the gap. You can maybe say it's close. But it's still Kane.

I’d say they were fairly equal during the cup years but it’s Kane because of everything after that.

Kane pretty easily at every level of the sport.

Juniors (pre NHL with Toews being in the NCAA while Kane being in OHL), International play (Olympics, World Jrs, World Cup, World Championship), Regular Season, Playoffs, foreign league maybe too (Kane had 23 in 20 in 2013 lockout in the Swiss League, doubt Toews is as productive).

Kane is above Toews for peak, prime, clutchness, career, and whatever else

Cup years? Toews, but not by much.

Since then, Kane by a healthy margin.

So overall, it's gotta be Kane. I do wonder how much of Toews' drop the last 5 or so years had to do with what's currently keeping him out.

Kane for the clutch playoff goals alone. Then you factor the point differential the past 5 years and there's no way you can make an argument for Toews.

During their cup years Toews was definitely the better overall player. They were fairly equal offensively while Toews was elite defensively and if anything Kane was below average there. Each of them were extremely clutch though.
