Painful seeing a nice stick get wrecked after only a handful of sessions. Has anyone found a solution? I googled and hockey wrap around seems to be a thing. Has anyone used it to success?

I would never use a high-end, top of the line, composite stick outdoors on the streets.

I've never used Wrap around, i've heard varying opinions on it. You could try and use that or just wrap the whole blade in tape, and keep taping it as the tape wears down. That will slow the wearing of the blade.

Me personally, I have a two piece setup I use for Outdoor hockey. I use a high end shaft and use Fischer w450 ABS Blade, which is the best ABS/outdoor blade i've ever used. The setup almost performs as well as my One-piece composite stick.

Do you mean like on out door rinks? Or on concrete?

Honestly on the streets I just use a $25 wooden stick just so a better stick doesn't get trashed.

Yeah, I have a hard time understanding why anyone would use a non-wooden stick outdoors (obviously not counting competition-quality surfaces which are rare).

If you're practicing with a purpose, the wood stick will work on the strength you put into your shots the same way a heavy puck will. If you're just screwing around, for the love of god don't take a composite stick out there.

FWIW one of my kids got a wrap-around and it didn't last long before it fell apart. They don't withstand heavy use very well, like slapshots or slashes.

Best advice I can offer: use a wooden stick with tape, and be ready to keep replacing tape until you give up and accept that it's cheaper to just keep buying new sticks with only the flat of the blade taped.

Most people I know use the wraparound as do I. I made one from sheet aluminium and another from sheet steel. They didn’t last long so I buy them now. I know a few people who buy cheap sticks, cheaper than the wraparound, and just tape them.

a local rink
wraparound is pretty damn effective. if the surface is really rough i don't use game sticks i'll use something i have laying around but if i go to local outdoor rink i use my game sticks because the wraparound doesn't deteriorate as much
