Ok, I try one mine.
Nobody mentioted Chris Dinosaurus Chelios..

...

I have problems with fourth line left wing... Dont know if Shutt or Mats Naslund and dont know if Kovalchuk is right. They never met each other on the ice in same jersey in a regular game.

You could put Bob Gainey. Good luck scoring on a line of Gainey-Datsyuk-Zetterberg, with Guy Carbonneau waiting in the wings if one player goes down.

The Mike Knuble Team is pretty good for a current player:

Shanahan Gretzky Ovechkin
Forsberg Yzerman Fedorov
Andreychuk Thornton Fleury
Tikkanen Pahlsson Larionov

Leetch Bourque
Coffey Lidstrom
Konstantinov Fetisov

Theodore (Hart Trophy version)
Osgood

It doesn't have the offensive firepower as some other teams, but the defence is as good as anyone's. Imagine a team where Mike Green can't even get power play minutes!

Theo Fleury's Team

Iginla Sakic Fleury
Messier Forsberg Bure
Lindros Nieuwendyk Mullen
Loob Gilmour St. Louis

Leetch McCinnis
Housley Suter
Foote Ozolinsh

Roy
Vernon
Richter

Pretty Solid team. Way to many great centers to not put on so some will have to play the wing.

Nobody mentioted Chris Dinosaurus Chelios..

Brendan Shanahan - Steve Yzerman - Brett Hull
Michel Goulet - Denis Savard -Guy Lafleur
Luc Robitaille - Sergej Fedorov - Bernie Nicholls
Steve Shutt - Pavel Dacjuk - Zetterberg
Igor Larionov

Larry Robinson - Doug Wilson
Gary Suter - Nicklas Lidstrom
Larry Murphy - Eric Desjardins
Craig Ludwig

Dominik Hasek
Patrick Roy
Ed Belfour

HM:
Mats Naslund, Claude Lemieux, J. Roenick, BoB Gainey, Bobby Smith, Guy Carbonneau, Bernie Nicholls, Alexei Zhamnov, Stephane J.J. Richer, Steve Larmer, Tony Amonte, Mathieu Schneider,

I have problems with fourth line left wing... Dont know if Shutt or Mats Naslund and dont know if Kovalchuk is right. They never met each other on the ice in same jersey in a regular game.

You would never beat me with my goalies :P

i would think chelios himself has to be on that team.

if it were me, the forwards would go:

robitaille yzerman lafleur
shanahan savard hull
kovalchuk larionov fedorov
gainey gilmour zetterberg

robitaille is like a super shutt, yzerman is like a super-duper lemaire. savard is the best playmaker, so he carries the puck and dishes to hull. shanahan provides size and retrieves the puck from the corners. goulet could and should certainly be on this team, but robitaille and shanahan make more sense with the other guys that are there, and i like fedorov with prime larionov, and kovalchuk can be the rich rich man's kozlov (or the poor man's krutov). on the checking line, i'd play zetterberg out of position like you did, replace datsyuk with gilmour, and add gainey. between carbonneau, datsyuk, and draper, that's seven selkes we're leaving on the table, but i prefer the playoff credentials of the three guys i have there.

on d:

lidstrom chelios
robinson coffey
wilson ludwig/samuelsson (maybe even a shutdown pair of ludwig and samuelsson)

obviously i wouldn't touch your goalies, even though there is a 0% chance those three guys could ever coexist on the same team.

Tomas Sandstrom's list is very similar to Coffey's:

Lemieux - Gretzky - Lafleur
Shanahan - Trottier - Jagr
Fedorov - Yzerman - Kurri
Robitaille - Dionne - Selanne

Francis, Larionov, Kariya, Mullen, Naslund, Taylor, Tocchet

Lidstrom - Robinson
Coffey - Fetisov
Murphy - Leetch

Konstantinov, Blake, Zubov, Duchesne, Samuelsson

Barrasso
Vanbiesbrouck

Vernon,Osgood, Richter, Hrudey

Coach: Scotty Bowman

I'd say this is even better than Coffey's - all 12 forwards are (or will be) in HHOF. And the same goes for the defense. Freaking awesome!

If hockeydb.com is accurate, then Knuble never played with Ray Bourque as Knuble was acquired on March 10, 2000 from the Rangers by the Bruins and Bourque was traded March 6, 2000 to the Avalanche.

Marian Hossa team should be great. He played for the last three cup winning teams and also for pretty stacked senators team and you can also add some nice players from his seasons in atlanta.
Out of my head:

Kovalchuk Crosby Hossa
Savard Malkin Recchi
Bondra Datsyuk Zetterberg
Tkachuk Spezza Alfredsson

extras: Kane, Toews, Havlat, Yashin, Mellanby, Holik, Slava Kozlov, Roberts

Lidstrom Chelios
Chara Gonchar
Redden Keith

Extras: Rafaski, Seabrook, Phillips, Volchenkov, Kronwall

Barrasso
Osgood

It's a shame that he somehow didn't meet Hasek in Ottawa or Detroit, this team would be even better.

Recchi:

Stevens - Lemieux - Jagr
Kovalchuk - Trottier - St. Louis
LeClair - Lindros - Recchi
Roberts - Francis - Mullen
Crosby

Coffey - Murphy
Chara - Gonchar
Desjardins - Duchesne
Samuelsson

Roy
Barrasso
Ward

I didn't think Stevens would have much chemistry with anyone else than Lemieux, so he goes on the first line. I didn't want to break up the Legion of Doom, but had to make room for Recchi himself.

Scott Stevens:

Elias - Oates - Hull
Thomas - Stastny - Gartner
Tikkanen - Gilmour - Ciccarelli
Andreychuk - Larionov - Lemieux
Nieuwendyk

Fetisov - Langway
Stevens - Niedermayer
Murphy - Kasatonov
Rafalski

Brodeur
Liut
Vanbiesbrouck

Nolan:

Iginla - Sakic - Lafleur
Tonelli - Forsberg - Nolan
Roberts - Francis - Selänne
Mogilny - Sundin - Sheppard
Nieuwendyk

Leetch - Suter
Duchesne - Jovanovski
Kaberle - Clark
Iafrate

Belfour
Kiprusoff
Hextall

Iginla and Mogilny switch to LW.

Blake

Robitaille - Gretzky - Kurri
Tonelli - Sakic - Selänne
Stevens - Forsberg - Tocchet
Frolov - Thornton - Lemieux
Nicholls

Bourque - Robinson
Coffey - Blake
Boyle - Duchesne
Foote

Roy
Fuhr
Theodore

That's a total of 13 Hart trophies, 11 Norris trophies, 8 Conn Smythes and Cup winners from 24 different years.

I suspected Bert Olmstead's team to be quite good...

Frank Mahovlich - Jean Béliveau - Maurice Richard
Dickie Moore - Henri Richard - Bernard Geoffrion
Doug Bentley - Elmer Lach - Claude Provost
Roy Conacher - Dave Keon - Ed Litzenberger

Doug Harvey - Red Kelly
Bill Gadsby - Tim Horton
Jack Stewart - Butch Bouchard

Jacques Plante
Johnny Bower

I don't think that this D can get any better for a 50'ies guy.
Yep good team. litzenberger;s would be pretty good also.

Bobby Hull-Jean Beliveau-Gordie howe
Ted lindsay-Stan Mikita-Rockey richard
Frank Mahovlich=Alex Delvecchio-Bernie Geoffrion

What's the best team that could be constructed from just one player and the players he has played with over his NHL career?

The obvious choice would be Paul Coffey. Of the 20 players with highest career point totals, 13 were team mates of Coffey's.

But is there another player whose career team would better than Coffey's?

Here's my Coffey team:

Robitaille Gretzky Kurri
Jagr Lemieux Lindros
Messier Trottier Recchi
Larionov Yzerman Fedorov

Chelios Robinson
Murphy Lidstrom
Coffey Fetisov

Hextall
Osgood

Coach: Scotty Bowman

Other possible inclusions on Team Coffey: Francis, Hawerchuk, Gilmour, Thornton, Lang, Konstantinov, Tikkanen, Anderson, Mark Howe, Vernon, Blake, Probert, Brind'Amour

Is it possible to construct a better team? How would a team consisting of only players that have played with Paul Coffey in the NHL fare against a team of players that haven't?

Well Al MacInnis played with some great players. He did it on only 2 teams. USing players who played with 4-5 teams makes this rather easy. Big MAc only played for 2 and I think his team would give Coffeys a good run.

Shanahan - Gretzky - Hull
Roberts - Gilmour - Fleury
Tkachuk - Oates - Hawerchuk
Loob - Nieuwendyk - Tonelli

MacInnis - Pronger
Duchesne - Suter
Ellett - Reinhart

Joseph
Fuhr
Vernon

Coach: Joel Quenneville
GM: Cliff Fletcher

Others: Mullen, Makarov*, Turgeon, Anderson, Tikkanen, McDonald, Demitra, Weight, Mellanby, Richer

I would love to see Roberts - Gilmour - Fleury line up against Jagr - Lemieux - Lindros!
Roberts and Lindros would definitly be dropping the gloves. I think the little guys, Fleury and Gilmour, would totally drive the big guys, Lemieux and Jagr nuts. Would make for some great shifts.

A fair amount of crossover between these two. What with STL bringing in a lot of players late in Big MAc carreer, and Coffey moving around so much.

I must say I like having 3 members of the 50g & 200pim club on the left side. I guess Coffey missed Shanny in DET by a bit. YOU should add Sheppard and Ciccarelli to your list of other though. Plus Howe and Lidstrom would be sick together on the point.

Geez Pappy, I think you just came up with the winner, all the while forgetting two players which deserves to be there (H. Richard and T. Johnson). Well, Johnson and Pronovost is something of a judgement call.

I thought of Henri Richard but he didn't play with Litz. Litz was with the Habs in 54-55 & Henri was a rookie in 55-56. Tom Johnson works. Thought of him. It was between him & pronovost. Litz is helped by playing on 4 original 6 teams though his time with Habs & wings was short.

Oh, though Litz played a few games with MTL in 55-56.
