I was just looking at Lee Stempniak's statistics, and what stuck out to me was that after Toronto dumped him after 123 games in the blue & white, he scored a whopping 14 goals and 18 points in 18 games for the Phoenix Coyotes to finish the season. 14 goals in 18 games from a guy who scored at an 18 goals per 82 game pace over his whole career!

What other players have joined a new team at the deadline, and gone on an absolute tear like this?

The recently oft-mentioned Theo Fleury comes to mind! The Fleurenator was traded from Calgary to Colorado at the deadline in 1999, and then put up 10 goals and 24 points in just 15 games.

Marian Hossa with Pittsburgh in 2008. Hossa posted 10 points in 12 games during the rest of the regular season for Pittsburgh after being acquired from Atlanta. His true impact was felt in the playoffs with 12 G, 14A, 26 pts in 20 playoff games.

Kelly Hrudey, after being traded to the Kings in March 1989 from the Islanders. Hrudey was having a disappointing season on the Island, with an 18-24-3 record and an .874 average. Upon arriving in L.A. to close out the season, he went 10-4-2, with a .904 average (and a 2.90 GAA, the lowest such any Kings' goalie would post for many, many years to come!).

The Kings also then took down Cup-champ Edmonton in seven games, and Hrudey posted a (then) solid .899 in that series. (However, he then was butt-slapped by Calgary in round two, posting a dismal .857.)

Saw that with Hossa. Got to wonder if his acquisition was the thing the Pens needed to get to the Cup final in 2008. A good veteran guy infused into a lineup that was still "green" at that time.

Reichel in 97. Scored 43 points in 70 games for the Flames. Got traded to the Islanders. Scored 19 in 12.

Went from a 0.6 PPG guy to a 1.58 man.
