Ryan Miller is USAs best player. Parise is the best position player now. Kane and Kesler (40 goals! Selke!!) are close behind. Kesler would be better if he could score in the playoffs..

There is no way Krejci is better than Plekanec. They both played head to head in the playoffs and Krejci was shutdown complety while Plekanec racked up pts while being dangerous.

Krejci = most overrated Bruins player.

Lidstrom is old and past his prime

Sedins can't perform in the playoffs

Zetterberg hasn't been dominant in 2,5 years

Franzen, the post season monster, is a kitten now adays

Backstrom had the worst season of his career and battled through injuries

OEL, Hedman, Larsson, Erixon, Paajarvi, Johansson, Josefsson, Tedenby etc. are too young to have anything to do with the position as the best.

That leaves Enstrom, Eriksson, Berglund, Edler and Lundqvist. And out of these, Lundqvist is clearly the best.

OVERALL / ON WC ROSTER

Canada: Crosby / Nash
USA: Parise / ....Shattenkirk?
Sweden: Zetterberg / Eriksson
Russia: Datsyuk / Kovalchuk
Finland: Rinne / Koivu
Slovakia: Chara / Visnovsky
Czech Republic: Elias / Elias
Switzerland: Hiller / Pluss
Germany: Ehrhoff / Mueller
Belarus: Grabovski / Grabovski
Norway: Holos / Holos
France: Huet / Huet
Slovenia: Kopitar / ..Kristan?
Latvia: Ivanans:) / Nizivijs
Denmark: Nielson / Eller
Austria: Vanek / Werenka

Not at WHC (or at least, not in the top division):

Kazakhstan: Antropov
Ukraine: Zherdev
Japan: Fukufuji

Unless you mean dad Olaf Eller who's a commentator on Danish TV where he's is doing a great job spreading the good word of hockey to a non-hockey-nation... Eller's is no where near the WC. He's injured.

On paper Boedker should be the best player on Danish team, as he is the only NHL'er, and he is up there for sure but... Mads Christensen has been a beast in the big games. He, and not Boedker, has kept Denmark in the A-pool. Dunno about the rest..

I think you're being a bit harsh there.

Lidstrom is past his prime, yet still in the running for Norris.
Might be a bit due to his reputation, but he's still definitely a top-10 defenseman. At 40.

Franzen and Zetterberg have both been plagued by injuries, and IMO, Franzen just isn't his usual self this postseason.

CPhoenixM must have blocked this play from his memory.

So a play in which Spezza pretty much covers Crosby perfectly and keeps him from doing anything, at which point the defensive coverage leaves Letang open on the point? Lesser players would have been turned inside out by Crosby there. I don't get how that proves anything against Spezza.

It proves that Spezza covering his man perfectly still was a step behind Crosby the entire play and a goal resulted from the separation Crosby was able to generate numerous times. Not only did Crosby dominate that play, he dominated the entire series against Ottawa (I was using the play as a metaphor for the series). Crosby then followed up with one of the most dominant regular seasons in recent memory (prior to his injury).

In light of this, I would be interested in any argument as to why Spezza is a better player than Crosby.
