knockoffs stick out like a sore thumb. whether its the colors, the shape of the designs, the lines on the jersey, etc. its really sad looking. I've yet to see a jersey that is a knockoff but looks damn near identical.

If time's not an issue, IceJerseys.com ran a decent promotion last summer where they did pro customization for free with purchase of a jersey. Mine ended up being $125. Wouldn't be surprised if they did another offseason sale. Replica + nice customization is the way I usually go. Some of the pre-made jerseys have cheaper sewn on materials.
