The guy Montreal did not let to play 1000 games with the club

Absolutely pathetic move by then Russophobic Habs management, getting rid of all Russian players including Markov who had 10 more games to reach 1000 with Montreal and who was 0.5 PPG in his last season

Markov was criminally underrated outside of Montreal. Chips are down, I'll take peak Markov over peak Subban. Andrei facilitated career years for Souray, Streit, and Komisarek and netted them their biggest contracts with other clubs. His distributing skills on the PP have not been replaced.

PK Subban was a legit HOF talent. He was better for sure.

Who had the better career? It's closer because Subban's ended prematurely. A lot closer from that perspective.

Voted Markov but Pk's peak was better.

Markov also helped pk a hell of a lot in his career , a great mentor to have. Don't think PK is the player he became without the generals help and guidance , especially with Therrien hating pk's guts his entire tenure here

Totally agree , joke management. Doesn't get talked about enough how much he disrespected Markov. He was one point away from becoming second all time scorer on the habs and taking over Guy Lapointe for the #2 spot.

Subban was flashier, but Markov was the rock of the Habs' defense (and we've been looking for his replacement ever since)
