The first thing my son and I do when we go to a game is head for the jumbo dogs and soda. I have been fortunate enough to have sampled jumbo dogs in 14 different buildings.

Although I am a hard fast Leaf fan, Ottawa, you win this battle. Absolutely amazing. Its a footlong, tasty and not to pricey.

Ottawa-Amazing-No one is even close to Ottawa IMHO
Toronto-average
Montreal-average
Winnipeg-slightly below average
Calgary-above average
Edmonton-slightly better than Calgary
Vancouver-crap
NYR-pretty good
NYI-pretty good
Philly-Absolute crap
Carolina-average
Florida-below average
Tampa-pretty good.
St Louis-very very good.

No, not following teams. I have lived in every province except Quebec and I usually go to Florida in the winter and we catch games on the drive down. The worst, and most surprising was Philly. Afterall, they make a helluva cheese steak. Dogs, not so much.

So that leaves 17 arena's, technically 18 now but Seattle isnt open yet....or is it?
What are your opinions on the food where you go watch hockey.
I talk about Jumbo Sausage dogs but you can talk about anything, Nacho's, pizza, dogs, burgers etc.

Are you just talking about the in-arena food? Yes, Vancouver's isn't great - it's better than it used to be but nothing special. Unfortunately, there aren't any great food places to watch the game in the lower mainland, either. I kind of like "Bells and Whistles" (they have a nice happy hour for hot dogs!), and a good selection of beer. Still, there's no place with the good screens, good vibe, good food, and good beer that other cities sometimes rave about.

Since we're talking hot dogs, I still love the Japadog in Vancouver and have sometimes wondered why they haven't shown up at one of our pro sports arenas/stadiums. I think they'd fit right in at our minor league baseball team's place, one of the best spots to watch sports for me.

Nice. And if you still live in Vancouver, Ottawa's jumbo's are seriously worth the drive across the country. lol
The bluewater cafe and Hawksworth's are worth the experience although Hawksworths can be a bit pricey.

Oh, but neither of those places are good sports-watching locations. Vancouver has some really nice restaurants (I love Elisa for steaks!), but I just think it's lacking for sports bars.

Carolina's is fine I guess. It's mostly generic arena food, but there are a couple of specific stations which are pretty good (BBQ sandwich especially). The biggest downside is simply that there aren't any good restaurants near the arena, so you're kind of at their mercy.

I went to a game in Dallas earlier this year and the food both inside and outside the arena was significantly better.
