The Muppet Christmas Carol
A Christmas Carol (1984)
A Christmas Carol (1938)

They're all versions of the same story, but it's the best Christmas story and even one of the best stories, period, IMO. I also love the 1951 version and many of the other list choices (and a few movies that didn't even make the list, like The Shop Around the Corner and Holiday Inn), but we were asked to choose only three Christmas movies and those are the three that I watch most often.

BTW, if anyone's interested, the 1951 and 1984 versions are both on YouTube:

Christmas Vacation gets my vote, however I just finished watching Violent Night tonight and enjoyed it immensely. Stupid but great fun

Alastair Sim version of A Christmas Carol

HM - Its a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story

These are the three I voted for as well.

I watch the Alastair Sim version of Scrooge every year, and watch the other two every couple of years. My other yearly watch is A Charlie Brown Christmas, but don't consider it a movie so it didn't get my vote.

Christmas Eve or so we usually watch a Johnny Cash Christmas Special from the '70s. Last year it was from 1971. I remember a John Denver Christmas special we watched one year. Both pretty good

March of the Wooden Soldiers/Babes in Toyland (1934) -Don't know if it's considered a Christmas film but was shown every year around this time when I was a kid, still a favorite...with Laurel & Hardy.

Miracle on 34th Street (1947)-Edmund Gwenn as Santa Claus is a real charmer. Great tale.

A Christmas Carol (1951) - Alastair Sim was a funny dude, although this is the role most know him for. Classic.

Elf
Love Actually

Are the two I watch the most in repeated viewings. Both were released in 2003. I remember watching Love Actually in the cinema, but can't recall much fanfare for Elf at the time, although it did great at the box office.

Going for Home Alone as my 3rd choice. Mostly due to nostalgia reasons.

Another classic, Doctor Zhivago (1965) has a number of picturesque winter scenes
