Karlsson isn't very fast backwards by any means, even at his best he wasn't.

Because of his tap dance stride. Works best in a forward motion.

I feel like I remember a specific play where Bouwmeester caught up to the puck-carrier while skating backwards. Like, they were neck and neck, and Bo took a couple strides backwards and gained a few steps on the attacker, allowing him to properly defend. That was a long time ago, though. He is still a very good skater, though.

Skinner is one of the best pure skaters I've seen, so I'd probably go with him. But if it we're in-game skating backwards to actually play defense, I'd probably go with McDonagh. Though a young Bouwmester looked to me like the real deal too.
