Without waxing too lyrical, the first Fleet Foxes LP is one of the most important pieces of art I've ever interacted with. I don't know if, amongst all of that, I can properly characterize what I felt when I played Sun It Rises after a tip-off from a friend. It was like opening a gift I didn't know that I needed. It's my favourite album of all time not because I think it's the best from a technical standpoint- it very obviously isn't - but because of what it has given to me over the years. Special shoutout to The Midnight Organ Fight, which would probably win most other years for me, and is a top-25 album in my canon

1. Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes

2. Frightened Rabbit - The Midnight Organ Fight

3. Grouper - Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill
4. La Dispute - Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair
5. The Tallest Man on Earth - Shallow Grave
6. Kanye West - 808's and Heartbreak

7. MGMT - Oracular Spectacular
8. Chad VanGaalen - Soft Airplane

9. Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend
10. Mount Eerie with Julie Doiron and Fred Squire - Lost Wisdom
