Big year - two definitive compilations of my favourite composer's works. Those are all-time favourites for me.

Tribe's debut is massive. Not sure how that isn't the frontrunner, but then again...

A little surprised by this, to be honest. I'm not the biggest Metallica guy, so I went back and listen to the album - and I'm not sure it holds up to their best stuff. Feels very bare and almost derivative at times. Anyway, one man's opinion.

This board seems to heavily favor hard-rock/metal. Just look at the current results for this year.

Yeah. For Megadeth, Priest, and Pantera (and even AiC) to be the three leaders in a year with all-time, stone-cold classics from Depeche Mode, Cocteau Twins, and Public Enemy is kind of indicative of the direction most of these polls have gone in. It's weird, because the discourse doesn't seem to trend that way. But a lot of the results have. It kind of hearkens back to the 1980 poll, in which Back in Black somehow got 11 more votes than Remain in Light and 10 more than Closer. That set the tone.

Then again, the purpose of these polls is to gauge the collective pulse of the board. This is that. Can't complain when you get exactly what you sought out. And it's not like Rust in Peace and Seasons in the Abyss aren't absolute bangers.

Oh, and more of y'all need to listen to Flood. It is an absolute 5* album.

Great album. Heck the video for The Audience is Listening alone is amazing.
