Marlies defense has been an absolute disaster all year. Marincin comes down and his pairings always look strong. Doesn't matter who he is playing with.

People are overreacting. If he even gets in, which is highly unlikely, he is a good depth defenseman.

Non-COVID, and Non-Hockey related LOA can really only mean Personal (mental health, family, marital...etc) or Substance Abuse. First and foremost I just hope he gets whatever is holding him off the roster sorted out and that he and/or his family are well. That said, if it is in fact substance abuse that has caused his LOA that is the scummiest trade I can recall in a long time. ANH should see some repercussions as a result. It's completely unethical to trade a guy dealing with substance abuse issues to a team without disclosing this prior to the deal. Obviously this is all speculative, and likely none of this would ever become public due to player confidentiality. But if it is true, ANH should be black balled by all other teams. I know it's just a 5th rounder that we gave up, but I have a very hard time believing they were not aware of any substance abuse issues prior to making that deal.

again, this is completely speculative, and I have no insider information that has lead me down that thought. It is more or less putting the pieces together from the information we do have. I recognize it's not fair to speculate on this kind of stuff, but that's kind of what crazy fans do. I genuinely hope the best for Ben. It's been a hard year for everyone, including famous athletes. So I really hope he just gets whatever is holding him out sorted.

It's looking like it is Dermott who is out.

I like Dermott but Sandin is a better player. I crapped all over Gardiner last year after the Boston series but I also remember who his partner was. Bogosian ready to return is huge. The fact they see Sandin as the first option on the 3rd pairing is even better.

That's good news about Bogosian. I always worry about players coming back too early from injury, especially in the more physical playoffs. But that's why they have experts and trainers. right? I am glad they are giving Sandin a shot. We need to help the PP, he's not the only answer, but I think he will help. Having Dermott sitting shows good depth and you know we will have injuries.

i think this is 100% because Reilly has been sucking the life out of the PP this year, because Dermott is much better defensively than Sandin.
Bogo may be able to keep him safe i hope (on the D side)

Considering Rielly is still on a PP, I highly doubt that is their motivation. Seems more like they want two equal units and needed a guy better than Muzzin and Brodie running the other one. No idea why they never gave Dermott an opportunity on the PP though.

Seems like Sandin is just going to end up being a PP specialist. If he doesn't get anything going on the PP, then he is likely getting taken out of the lineup fairly quickly. Dermott has been better than Sandin at ES.
