What the hell is this? How does a solid reliever under club control get traded from only money?
That and the fact that relievers often go from elite one year to out of baseball in 2-3. Extremely volatile position.Bearclaw has a career 5.52 BB/9 and has declined every year of his career. Complete trash last year. Good upside for the Nationals but I don't know what people were expecting him to return.
Barraclaugh is in decline. He finished with a 4.20era last year and his fangraph fip was 4.98. He really sucked in the 2nd half and lost his closers job.His fastball velocity has fallen from
2016-96.6
2017-95.2
2018-94.1
His K's per 9 innings has fallen from
2016-14
2017-10.36
2018-9.70
He turns 29 in May. The Marlins are in a major rebuild where if everything went 100% right won't be good for another 4-5 years. Given how much he's already slipped I think it's safe to say IF the Marlins were a good team 4-5 years from now he wouldn't be a contributor to it. The shot at Victor Mesa is a no brainer.
