Assuming (which may be considered a stretch based on previous years) the Pens do well, make it deep into the playoffs, but lose out respectively (not humiliated), Do the Pens stick with Johnston? Say Babcock is available and guaranteed to sign with Pens, do they go with Babcock or give Johnston another shot? What would you do?

I'm not so sure Babcock would be guaranteed to sign with the Penguins regardless of their playoff finish. I bet Toronto tries to make him the highest paid coach.

I'm closing this thread for multiple reasons:

- There is no way to compare after 17 games of head coaching over years and years of success.

- We don't know where the Pens will be come playoff time

- We have no clue what Babcock's intentions are.

We have a coaching thread already. Maybe that question can be posed there... but definitely not its own thread.
