It's weird to see how anti-Babcock this community is, because it seems like he mostly agrees with them. He's very pro-kid, he's willing to admit that Cleary was awful last season, and he doesn't BS anybody. It's almost like Holland has infected Babcock somehow in this forum's view, because he can say good things and nobody wants to hear it.
Hell, this interview makes it sound like Holland is the problem and not really Babcock.
I guess you hear what you want too.

Tatar couldn't crack that lineup at the start of last season. Why? Because of Babcock. Tie goes to the veteran despite the fact that there was no tie. Tatar was better than the entire bottom 6.
He admits that Cleary was awful last year but then goes on to praise him for the previous season. Guess what? There was hardly that big a difference between 12-13 Cleary to 13-14 Cleary. He was beyond awful both seasons.
This being the Babcock that played Cleary with players like Datsyuk and Zetterberg in 12-13 and the same Babcock who played Cleary on the PP in both seasons. Why would you play a player that you now admit was awful on the PP? He was a minus player on the PP this past season for crying out loud.
Babcock talking pro kid means nothing when he doesn't always show it.
I remember last preseason, Babcock played Nyquist and Tatar against Piitsburgh's top line. As you can imagine, they didn't fare so well. Babcock came out after the game and said that this proves that they aren't ready, despite the fact that Nyquist and Tatar clearly wouldn't be Detroit's top line and have to face that type of competition when the full roster was playing.
And on the flip side? When Cleary and Samuelsson were awful in the preseason despite playing against bottom lines he didn't bat an eye.
He's very hypocritical and his actions don't always line up with his words.
Lol at how one can take that interview as Babcock being innocent and Holland being the problem. Agenda much? They've both been guilty of making head scratching decisions.
