He is better than Oduya. It's 3 years and not 4-5 that Oduya might have been. Downside is that it's a 35+ deal.

Not my top choice and IMO, not the puck mover we needed. He's not a slug like we had last season and can skate but still not that guy. Lets see how bad the money is now. Can't imagine him taking less than $5M/yr. That's what he wanted from the team he really wanted to stay with.

Makes our D a lot better though.

The first two years of this deal will be great. 3rd is questionable, but that is UFA for you. Luckily, the Avs should have the space to absorb $4.5m.
