Berra's shortcomings (overly aggressive in the net, moves too much, looses track of the play etc) are fixable by some good coaching and we have a pretty decent goalie coach.

Not bad. Not good. Just average.

Maybe he'll be better on our team with Allaire but unless Giguere is hurt, we probably won't see him this season.

Giguere is gone after this year so Avs did needed a back up goalie. None of the Avs prospect goalies in the system are ready for the NHL

Yes pretty much, he's talented, he just over-thinks and over-commits sometimes IMHO.

Despite his great start, Jiggy hasn't been very good for a while now. This is a pretty good insurance policy. I'm not that bug on Berra, but for a minimal cost, it's worth it. He might be our backup next season, if Giguerre doesn't shape up.
