I hope he watched the Pens Caps game last night. I don’t expect him to hit like Ovie ( I think he does that for fun, sometimes) but he could take a page out of Sid’s book. Now, If theLeafs still had someone to back them up he could be a little more like Malkin.

Matthews 1.8 hits per game, 1.1 blocks per game
Marner 1.2 hits per game, 0.3 blocks per game

at 14 blocked shots in the playoffs the past 2yrs, Matthews leads the team's forwards by a country mile. Hyman is 2nd with 9. And matthews doesn't even play the PK.

So Matthews is 2nd in hits, and 1st in blocks, of all the top-3 forwards on all the contenders.

People who don't understand how physical Matthews is, should really watch a game or two of him playing.

He's so good that he doesn't have to hit you to separate you from the puck. It follows him like a string even in tight spaces.

Alot of banging stars have injury problems. He should focus on just riding them out or rubing them off in the corners. I think he's just got to be in the way and not give his ice up. Own the zone don't need to be banging body's.

I got to watch him live in the blackhawks game; he's an absolute machine

I mentioned this before. I could never figure who Matthews reminded me of. I believe it's Malkin. Both players have tons of natural talent. Malkin early in his career would never take a hit to make a play. He had size but wouldn't use it. After 4-5 season Malkin has learned to use his size. Leverage. It's made him a beast. Auston is nowhere near a beast. Yet. Matthews I believe is only 70% of the player he will become. He will learn leverage, size, and even more passion. WHEN he does he can become the best player in the game. HE will bring the Leafs a Cup.
