I don't care what sport you name, the 'officials' should be damned near invisible.

In a well officiated game, there should be little to no reason to question decisions made by the game officials.

Too bad a lot of them like to compete with the athletes for our attention!

Alford's season is getting underrated. If his power can start showing more, which is usually the last thing that develops, we have a very good player here

The nice thing is if the power doesn't develop (and it has been improving the last couple years, at least) he still profiles as a high-OBP leadoff hitter with speed and good OF defense.

Wish we could have seen him in earlier.......errrr without getting hurt

We should see him a lot in September if we are completely out of the playoff picture. All though he could likely do better than some of the outfielders that are playing right now.

Plus with this new trend of power increasing when guys hit the majors, maybe we can look forward to a little boost there.

1. Tom Koehler will be roughly as valuable as Matt Moore.

To look at Koehler’s track record from the his four years in the Marlins’ rotation, the picture seems to be clear. He’s been an average strikeout pitcher at best with subpar control. Yet there was a significant shift that occurred less than two months into last season that carried over for an 18-start period. Koehler began to throw his slider more frequently, beginning with his May 29 start at the Braves, which led to an increase in his whiff and strikeout rates. The increased slider usage coincided with a shift in his release point and improved control. Between June 3 and Sept. 4, Koehler had a 3.53 ERA with a 20.4 percent strikeout rate and a 7.2 percent walk rate.

His control faltered badly over his last five starts, but I can’t let go of the dramatic improvement from the previous 18 outings. Even with some regression in his walk rate, Koehler could have Matt Moore’s numbers from last season, albeit with a little less efficiency. I’d expect both pitchers to throw around 190 innings, get decent run support and have their home parks limit their HR/9 ratios to right around 1.0.

Started the season off like a 5 or 6th starter but on May 16th abandoned the use of his sinker and his numbers got worse.

Had a good finish to his 2016 and if he wants to do that in 2017 then he needs to improve his control mainly his slider control. Throw his fastball less, his curve more and potentially bring back sinker.

Might benefit from the Marco Estrada school of keeping batters off-balanced because he isnt going to be striking guys out.

Miguel Cabrera versus Austin Romine in a massive brawl.

Betances hits McCann in the helmet to clear the benches again!
