You know...
Like a lot of people have said he's already looking like a solid 3rd liner but has that 2nd line potential. Last season he got injured in mid November and upon returning really struggled to produce offense (not like he really had anything to work with) from returning in late December until early February, he had a total of 1 point across 18 games. Then in the last 30 games of the season he put up 15 points (10G, 5A) whilst on average playing 16-18 minutes a night. Outside of numbers he's also pretty smart defensively and plays a well rounded game. He's got a really nice shot and I think we just gotta take advantage of that more.

OP says "we have guys like him in spades" but I disagree. We may have a lot of wing depth but Lehkonen is not "just another winger" and is the kind of guy every team could use and he's only 22. You wanna cut some wingers? Then start with guys like Pacioretty and Byron.

Any interest in this guy? 22yo LW, small but feisty, defensively responsible, good PKer, has a good shot but otherwise not that big of an offensive threat. I think he'll be a solid middle sixer but the problem is the Habs have guys like him in spades so he is expendable. What would you offer? B grade centre or LHD prospects would be preferred.
His contract is a steal next 2 years and he has 25-30 goal hands. Why trade him? Remember he is playing on terrible team, bottom 6 minutes and no offensive center. Look at Karlsson after he got a chance with the Knights?

How am I, despite seeing this guy play dozens of times a year, failing to see a 25-30 goal scorer that everyone else seems to see in him? Considering his size he doesn't have the hands or the skating for that kinda production. Very smart and hard-working which is guaranteeing him a good NHL career but if he ever becomes a legit 2nd liner I'll be very surprised.

Since when a 6' tall player is "too small" to score 25-30 goals.... ? do you even watch hockey ? I can tell you 5 players who scored 50 goals + and are below 6' tall.

18 goals as a rookie playing with a dud for center. He should score 25 at least with 3-4 years experience. Should near 30 with 3-4 years experience and an offensive center.

2 things.
First I think 25-30 is pushing it, I see him as most likely a 20-25 guy... he scored 18 @ 20 yo... With maybe a 30g season or 2.

Second, I think you missed something if you can't see this guy as a potential second line player. He's not a flashy player, but like you said, he works hard. But also, knows where to go on the ice (good hockey sense) and has a pretty good shot/release. He won't be the guy driving the offense but he is a guy who would greatly complement a second line, think Guentzel, regular season Guentzel lol

I think we need to be careful with how bad our season was last year and Lehkonen had a injury that affected his development. He has a great shot and the potential is there. I think he is a solid middle 6 winger who knows how to play D. Under the right situation with a legit center, I can see him play on the 2nd line in future years but I prefer to have him on the 3rd line shutdown role who can burn you on offense with his shot. He is a very smart player
