That can't be right, there is only one Point in the league!Just the 9th time in NHL history 4 players have hit 120 points in the same season.

He gets hit a lot.
I know you mods are supposed to be almost like father figures on this forum, but I didn't realize it extended to actually telling dad jokes as well. That can't be right, there is only one Point in the league!
What a ridiculous post. The classic "xyz can't win the Hart because he has a good teammate" argument. In the perfect world he should be a front runner with Kuch for the Hart. “The Hart Memorial Trophy, originally known as the Hart Trophy, is an annual award for the most valuable player to his team in the National Hockey League (NHL)”. It’s not for the best player in the league.
So Oilers is still a playoff team without McDavid, they have Draisaitl.
Colorado is still a playoff team without MacKinnon (Makar, Rantanen).
Toronto is still a playoff team without Matthews (Marner, Nylander, Tavares).
And then we have Kuch with 142 pts, 53 more than next teammate and TB would miss this year playoffs without him.
And Panarin 120 pts, 43 more than next teammate on President Trophy winning team.
So Hart ranking in the perfect world should be
1-2 Kuch&Panarin
3 MacKinnon
4 McDavid
5 Matthews
On one hand it depends on how often you'd consider often vs. not. 9 times is about 10% of the time, so not "remote".Just the 9th time in NHL history 4 players have hit 120 points in the same season.
People will point to the 80s, but it only happened 5 times in the 80s. It was most common then by far, but half the seasons did not see four players hit 120 points. On one hand it depends on how often you'd consider often vs. not. 9 times is about 10% of the time, so not "remote".
As high scoring as the 1980's were and people point to that as Gretzky inflated stats, not everyone was putting up huge numbers.....most years it was less than 3 guys scoring 120, in 1987 or whatever year it was, Gretzky put up 183pts and #2 had 108pts.
The crazy year was 1992/93 - 10 guys had 120+ points.
Yep. I don't think most people disagree with that.Peak Crosby, Malkin and Ovi would score 150-160pts in todays NHL
Only Austin matthews would be jealous of that 69-69
True, I’ve said this before as an argument for why Panarin will probably age very gracefully and be productive into older ageOnly Austin matthews would be jealous of that 69-69
Pretty awesome accomplishment, but he came over to the nhl later. His body didn't take nearly the abuse at 32 as the kids that started in the nhl 18. Russian khl hockey is less physical and the players aren't as talented. HE has 6 less seasons of nhl players hitting him and probably has less wear and tear on his body. I have no idea how you compare the effect on the body from khl hockey to nhl hockey. The breadman is a fun player to watch.
