Gotta respect if not love Rod Brind'Amour. He has a chance to both Captain his team and Coach his team to a Stanley Cup. Only other guy I can think of who basically did that was Der Kaiser, Franz Beckenbauer. Maybe there's others., idk.

im sure its happened in the early days of the NHL.

Someone named Flip Gumpley probably did it for the Saskatoon Moose Tigers

I wouldn't blame the Islanders for getting dirty and throwing flying elbows in response to that dive and PPG. I wouldn't blame the Canes either if they decided to get ahead of it and just threw some chin shots preemptively.
Also they can take Necas out for the mock flying after he scored. I'd like to punch his lights out.

I’m at a sportsbook and with about 10 to go in the first tied at 1 I placed a bet on Carolina +320 to win the first period. I’m an idiot. Also placed a little MSG parlay on the Rangers and Knicks game ones. They’re both f***ed now.

The playoffs are a different beast. I'm surprised how many people are just writing off the Islanders and Capitals given our history of having close series' against everybody these past 20 years.

The Rangers haven't played the capitals in 9 years.

There is one Ranger on the current roster who was on that one and what, 2 Capitals?

Anyway, at this point this game is kind of a must win for the Islanders. I don't think they have it in them to bounce back from a deflating loss after playing a team that should be smoking them in a close game.

Nothing to do with the roster construction. I just mean that we've seen time and time again that playoff series' get stretched out to 6 and 7 games very easily, regardless of who the opponent is. Assuming the Canes will dominate the Isles or we'll dominate Washington is more wishful thinking than how playoff hockey actually works most of the time.
