DAL v. STL (game 1 4/25, 9:30PM)
SJS v. COL (game 1 4/2, 10:00PM)

Go Bluejackets (done rooting for the Bs now that their opponent isn't Toronto), Isles (still not over 2006), and Stars (I want a draft pick in the teens pls)!

Aho was a complete beast all game. When Washington was dominating the first two periods he was still generating chances.

With round 1 behind us, here is a look at the bracket standings (for those of you who filled one out):

1) @Aladyyn 46 pts (321 total possible points)
2) Jim.1 43 pts (243 tpp)
2) @Randall Flagg 43 pts (68 tpp)
3) @Sabreality 36 pts (161 tpp)
4) @Jim Bob 33 pts (283 tpp)
4) maz_FmHXa 33 pts (133 tpp)
4) jed_MWj1j 33 pts (58 tpp)
5) @1point21Gigawatts 30 pts (105 tpp)
6) @Gras 20 pts (20 tpp)
6) @Rowley Birkin 20 pts (20 tpp)
7) @Jim Carr's Rug 0 pts (0 tpp)

So what we know is that:
Aladyyn has the best chance of winning
Jim Carr's Rug somehow managed to gain zero points without a chance of gaining more.
All of our brackets are pretty busted.

edit - for those of you who played but aren't tagged in this post it's because i am not sure what bracket team your username is associated with. if you reply or PM me, i can update the info for next round. No big deal either way.

It will also be fun to see the division winners looking to re-tool and reload, and whichever of the new crop of advancing teams that gets close who decide that they are going to try to repeat success and improve. It could be a much more active summer for trades than it would be if all of the usual suspects went on.

Looking at the remaining teams, I’m thinking Boston v. Colorado has a pretty good chance of happening. That Avalanche top line is absurdly good.

I'm a believer in biorhythms. It's tough after playing at a high intensity level every other day to suddenly have to go into waiting mode for a week with nothing to do until your opponent becomes known and a new schedule gets set.

San Jose is beat up physically but their legs and energy levels are good. In the meantime, Colorado has been drinking pina colada's on the beach for a week. (figuratively speaking). I expect them to show well for the 1st half period of game one and then lose energy. It will be interesting to see if they can recover their intensity in time to make this a series.

Considering how lucky SJ was to advance, though, I think Colorado could win 4 straight....starting at game 2. ;)

A bear is mostly impervious to bees, so Bruins.
Islanders flee inland during hurricans, so Canes.
Sharks cannot be hurt by avalanches, nor can Sharks even effect the snow. Push to game 7.
A star is far more powerful than music, however cool. Stars.

Two can play at this game, my friend.

Islanders can ultimately withstand any hurricane, despite the attrition.

A civil war era solider can shoot dead a bear.

Sharks are for real, whereas Yeti are mere folklore.

Stars rely on mediums such as music to attain their status in the first place.
