Are there any problems with Tampa?

It does seem like there is one dramatic situation after another in Tampa Bay.

Yzerman does a great job at drafting, a poor job at trading, and a questionable job (along with Cooper who is an excellent coach otherwise) at handling the players

Cooper is a terrible coach and Yzerman constantly sucks up to him.

wouldn't say Cooper is a terrible coach, last season wasn't the best due to injuries the back end of the season showed that. Coope is underrated, if we got rid of him he would only thrive elsewhere.

Yzerman made it clear that changes were going to be made to improve the team cap space available to sign another top 4 D and now is able to look at some FA. Some players stepped up last season leading to cuts being able to be made to improve other situations.

Might take a look:

Garrison, Bishop and Connolly deals were basically highway robbery. From a value point, the Callahan MSL one as well, as MSL never did that much for NYR.

Gudas and the DeAngelo ones are the 2 trades I would count us as loosers. Though, DeAngelo wasn't going to have a fair chance here as we value character and the Gudas trade still brought as a more than serviceable defender back who is still playing for us. So no big regrets here either.

Other than that it's a whole lot of low end deals with not much going on either side.

How is this bad at trading?

Eventhough there is quit a bit of drama, still all players tell how great of an organization we have and we have no problem attracting great UFAs.

He horribly mismanaged Jonathan Drouin and played Jason Garrison 2nd pair, I don't know how underrated he could be.

Sure he was, most players are arrogant divas who have been worshipped as local gods from the age of about 10 and need to be managed in a particular way. You can't just go and trade them though everytime they have a diva moment.

The blame that goes to Yzerman over that was because it was an avoidable situation. It was egotistical and arrogant of him to stay on and all the trouble that followed is partially on him because of it. He should have resigned from his position at team Canada when to took on the job as Lightning GM, or at the very least as soon as he saw the St. Louis thing was going to be a problem. That whole fiasco was avoidable.

Both demanded trades bro

We did not really have cap issues. We dumped players to create cap space to make moves this off season, we could have retained the team we had no problem.

The two cornerstones of the franchise sign max term deals. Callahan signs here. Garrison waives NTC to come here. Stralman signs here. Kucherov re-signs here. Cooper is tapped by team North America to assistant coach. Followed by Team Canada getting Cooper to be head coach there. Yzerman has made countless deals that were positive for the franchise and even when those contracts are a bit long and the player under performs he masterly is able to move around to put the Lightning back in a good spot moving forward. Between Cooper and Yzerman in 6 years they have made the Lightning organization one of the best organizations in hockey. MSL gets ******** Yzerman didn't pull rank to get him on team Canada...and when Yzerman pulls him in is barely played by Babcock. Then all this crap about prima donna Drouin ... its more about Drouin's immaturity and unwillingness to buy in like Hedman, Stamkos, Kucherov, and others.

Drouin is gonna get ruined by the scrunity in Montreal. For all the talent he has ... he made his bed the day he left the team and demanded a trade. Yzerman just patiently bought his time until Drouin regained some value to get rid of the little spit. Sergachev is gonna be a monster...Yzerman came out on top here and the Lightning organization is better for it.

This thread is a joke.

No problems. They just need to take a step forward. They will do that by staying healthy and I think they need to make some smart moves this offseason as well. They just got out of cap hell, don't need to go back. We have a lot of good prospects in the system now. Have good nucleus of players. Just need to add some depth scoring and possibly another D.

The players need to figure out why they think it's okay to dog it for the first half of the season in back-to-back years, especially after missing the playoffs in the latter.
