No, it wasn't a good idea. Getting pucks to the net is what drives offense in the NHL. Kopitar didn't take the puck to the net often enough, nor did he shoot often enough.

If you have a break down of Kopitar's performance with and without Gaborik please share it. Bottom line though is Kopitar needs to be less passive and more assertive in the offensive zone. I don't want to see the second coming of Joe Thornton out there playing for the Kings.

Especially with a career shooting percentage of 12%. He needs to be shooting more, not less.

Ok; lets go this way, what do you think; would Kopi shot more if he played with Lewis and Nolan

I don't think Kopitar would.

Kopitar has this uncanny knack for playing his game, no matter what is going on around him.

It's a good trait, and also a bad one sometimes.

Kopitar is, what he is. Line-mates/system ETC. Nothing is going to change that. Kopitar's development as a player is done, over.

Nick Backstrom had more shots than Kopi and he was centering Alex Ovechkin. There is no excuse for Kopi's lack of offensive shot aggression this season other than he was overly passive and not driving the net as much, which was obvious to anyone watching the games.

the most infuriating thing honestly is that he could be damn near a 35-40g scorer if he consistently played the middle of the ice instead of the boards and just shot the damn puck more.

it's one thing with players like Lewis where he very clearly just doesn't have the hands to match the drive and play style, it's another where with Kopi all he has to do is shoot more...

That's Sutter's fault. Don't you know?

Kopitar is always looking to make the perfect play. Look at how many times he makes a loop around the opposing net trying to find a pass without directing a shot on net. He doesn't look to shoot to create a rebound, he's always looking for the perfect pass.

They should give the Lady Byng to Jarret Stoll.

While he probably doesn't deserve the trophy, Jarret would still love to party with this Lady Byng chick, for sure, whoever she is.:sarcasm:
