Seems like the definition of a throw in. Was unqualified last summer by Chicago after they gave up Panik for him. I'm trying to remember if there was any added context to that Chicago trade, because it certainly looks like a loss for them right now.
With that said, he's not the worst throw in to get because there is a glimmer of upside there. The fact that he's arbitration elgible in the summer might complicate keeping him if he does just enough to intrigue us but not enough to cement himself as being turned around since he will be arbitration eligible and on pace for nearly 20 goals with almost 300 career games by the end of the season. That doesn't take into account his overall level of play in terms of his overall game being negative but the Senators may not want to risk taking him to arbitration and having to pay him what an arbitrator rules fair based on a 15-20 goal season as a player with 300 career games.
