Maybe the fans aren't just too keen to give him a 6-8 year contract.
Florida would take that and trade Pac while keeping Petry& Byron.

Florida is a bargain shopper here. We have no compelling need for Patches, but if the Habs want to sell really cheap then ok. Tallon should start by offering McGinn, Petrovic and a B prospect. If Bergevin does not immediately hang up and instead starts negotiating then a cheap deal can likely get done.

We don't have the center to have him produce anything. His value most likely keeps going down as he steps in the lineup.

Plus, I don't think the team wants to resign him at all.

That's stupid deal for MTL. They do have to remember, though, Caspioretty is UFA next summer and will want more money on his retirement contract. I think that's the main issue between what habs fans expect for him and what other clubs (fans) would do.
