The Nashville Predators have made another big deal resolving one of their headcases for the future. Neither new acquisition Mike Modano nor Viktor Kozlov were seen as long-term solutions at centre in the top six, which caused headaches for a long time for GM Kapfenberger. Last years first round pick Kyle Turris is expected to step in after next season, but obviously the team needs another one to share the centre-duties on the teams top line after next season.
Ironically the team that helped out Nashville is division rival Columbus. GM Emerson made the swedish playmaking ace Henrik Sedin available and Kapfenberger wasted no time throwing an offer at him - an offer Emerson could not refuse.
So Sedin joins Nashville in exchange for Viktor Kozlov, Danny Fritsche and prospect goaltender Semen Varlamov - a deal that should help both teams. Sedin is expected to feed Rick Nash and Jonathan Cheechoo, a line that will certainly cause trouble for opposing defenses.
An interesting season is coming up for Nashville - and it is the first time, the team fully expects to make the playoffs.
