If the Kuzmenko to Chicago rumors have any legs, then it's basically a 'cap dump' like it was with the Beauvillier trade.

That could potentially free up $5m in cap space for the Canucks to make a splash with another top player at the TDL. But have to agree with other posters. There's only a 20 percent chance that he finishes the year in Vancouver.

Outside of that 3rd period vs Columbus, team really needs to get the PP on track. Best way, is to get Kuzy rolling again.

Last year, the PP was static, everyone just stood still. They certainly don't now, lots of movement... but nobody is really shooting. Sometimes the 1st set up attempt isn't until the 1 minute mark.

Kuz led the team with 9ppg last season, mostly backdoor from JT passes. They haven't really used that play at all this year.

The closest they have to that play now is Hughes gunning for Millers feet.

Get Kuzy back on that unit full time, and bring in a couple of last years plays with the new and improved movement. No reason this roster shouldn't have a top 3 PP in the league.

I don't think he gets traded.

The part that gets me, is how Tocchet has mentioned that he wants Kuz to forecheck harder, yet he seems to simply not understand it. 4 hits in 43 games... I'm not sure he's ever going to get it.

Who knows what he's actually being asked to do. I can't imagine a player that is directly told to go out and crash into the first Dman on the first shift just outright refusing. He'd never get a second shift.

Or if Kuz started balls out then faded after a few games Id understand that...

Curious what the specific issues are, cuz Toch is pretty vague on it.

Yeah, it wasn't specifically "hit people on the forecheck", but Tocchet did say something about how he needs to forecheck better. However, his hit totals are pathetic and can't be helping his cause.

Some players aren't built that way and you have to go w their strengths. Now he's no Bure, but Bure never played d, dude hovered and cherry picked but they played to his strengths. If his strengths are offensive oriented, mb he should be a pp specialist and covered 5v5 on a line w 2 d responsible guys.

His mistakes are so overblown now cuz he's the one under the microscope it's so easy to just pick every negative. And like everything else, confidence goes a long way. Hard to build it when youre constantly getting broken down and shit on or benched or healthy scratched. This team and media and fans are so quick to run players out of town moment they aren't 100. If it were up to you all, boeser was dead to rights 2 yrs running, now he's a golden child, garland would be traded for cap cuz where else would they get relief.

Somethings take a bit. It'd be understandable if he was costing them games via his play, but he's not. I can rmmbr as many brain farts by ep but because he produces it's all gravy.

Not disagreeing with your post but Bure actually had great defensive instincts and was tenacious. But realistically Bure was so fast and powerful that you really just need a Dman who can retrieve the puck and move it to him and off to the races Bure goes.

Maybe Bure doesn't play D in the traditional way but the strategy of getting Bure the puck works.

Totally agree with the two previous posts.....Kuzmenko just doesn't have it in his hockey DNA to be a defensive forward. But the opposite side of the equation, is that if Kuzmenko is lighting the lamp 39 times a season, like he did last year, then you probably have to put up with the defensive gaffes.

The problem this year, is that he isn't scoring......which means you can't live with the defensive letdowns and shoddy work habits at times. Maybe another coach and another franchise can bring out the best in him....but it probably ain't happening here.

I want him to do well, but why does it have to be in a Flames jersey. Sharangovich was in a similar boat with NJ and he's turned it around in Calgary so maybe we'll see the same for Kuzzy.

I haven't been Kuzmenko's biggest fan this season, I just don't think he plays the way that this team wants its top players to play, but I still wish him all the best in Calgary. I bet his scoring does improve if he's allowed to play his brand of hockey but I also have my doubts about him being even a 30-goal player moving forward with his low shot totals and historic shooting percentage.

Thanks for signing here Kuzmenko, you were electric that first season but it was clearly time to move on.

First year was so much fun.

Amzing they were able to drop his contract with very little cost after the season he was having.
