He's the Jets' shutdown center, he takes the tough matchups, and absolutely excels at it. He is an extremely difficult player to replace.

Leafs can't add salary to their roster this year because if they do, they'll have to transfer Marner + Matthews bonuses onto next year, which would be catastrophic.

They would have to send equivalent salary back.

Johnsson will not be on an ELC for long, as you know and he's a winger - look at the Jets team and maybe you can figure out why they don't think Leaf fans watch other teams when they are suggesting the Jets trade their big shut down C for another small winger.
