JBD is better. It's a good, no risk pick up. Wonder why we kept jbd over him, but they’re pretty equal I guess.
30 days rings a bell, but not positive without checking. How long does he need to stay up before he isn't returned to Ottawa's AHL team if they put him through again and nobody claims him?
Not by much, if at all imo. Better defender by a small margin, thomson is a much better puck mover though.JBD is better.
Anaheim does not have enough young Ds in their system. lol
If he goes back on Waivers and nobody claims him, he automatically goes back to Ottawa's AHL affiliate, no claim necessary. It's a fairly common sense rule to prevent teams from doing Waiver shenanigans to claim other teams' AHL guys and get them to their own AHL team.Hmm, pretty surprising. I wonder if OTT claim him back if ANA waives him in the next month
Anaheim did have the Number 1 Waiver priority based on last year's standings, so it's not completely no risk (although still low risk of course), and does suggest that they are definitely planning to keep him on the roster as opposed to a "what the hell, let's see what happens" more extended Camp tryout. It's a good, no risk pick up. What does them having #1 waiver priority have to do with it being no risk or not? It’s a completely no risk claim for them. If he works out then they benefit, if he doesn’t, they just throw him back on waivers with nothing to lose.Anaheim did have the Number 1 Waiver priority based on last year's standings, so it's not completely no risk (although still low risk of course), and does suggest that they are definitely planning to keep him on the roster as opposed to a "what the hell, let's see what happens" more extended Camp tryout.
It just means they are choosing to use their #1 waiver priority on this guy rather than waiting to see who else gets put through. What does them having #1 waiver priority have to do with it being no risk or not? Maybe he'll go to Oz before reporting to Anaheim.Guy has no brain whatsoever
Doesn’t work that way. They still keep the #1 slot.It just means they are choosing to use their #1 waiver priority on this guy rather than waiting to see who else gets put through.
There is opportunity cost to everything, this is of course lower opportunity cost than most other things.
They stay number 1. Claiming a guy has no effect on waiver order. It just means they are choosing to use their #1 waiver priority on this guy rather than waiting to see who else gets put through.

OK, my mistake then, I thought they lose it for the remainder of the preseason and went to the bottom of the pack, my bad on that. They stay number 1. Claiming a guy has no effect on waiver order.
Not correct, I believe. Ottawa would still need to put in a claim, otherwise he goes to Anaheim's AHL affiliate. If he goes back on Waivers and nobody claims him, he automatically goes back to Ottawa's AHL affiliate, no claim necessary.
so they need to make a nominal claim to get him back to the AHL? Likely more of a formality, unless they really hated the guy for whatever reasonNot correct, I believe. Ottawa would still need to put in a claim, otherwise he goes to Anaheim's AHL affiliate.
They keep their #1 Priority until Nov 1st.It just means they are choosing to use their #1 waiver priority on this guy rather than waiting to see who else gets put through.
