so its based on the reg season standings or points after they get eliminated in a given round? Would Washington have a better pick than NJ for example if both are eliminated this round?

Picks from ISS April rankings http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?fid=11183&hubname=

Standings 15-30 based on playoff projections

1. Tampa Bay – Steven Stamkos, C
2. Los Angeles – Drew Doughty, D
3. Atlanta – Zach Bogosian, D
4. St. Louis – Alex Pietrangelo, D
5. NY Islanders – Luke Schenn, D

7. Toronto – Nikita Filatov, LW

With Filatov saying in his blog that he wants to come over to NA and with Snow saying the isles scouts love Filatov,I doubt the isles would pass him up at #5.

anyone know what picks 15-22 offically are now?
15.Nashville
16.Boston
17.Calgary
18.Ottawa

The rest is still TBD. My understanding is that 15-26 are teams lost in the first two rounds (with division winners picking last sorted by points). 27 & 28 are the conference final losers based on points, 29 the SCF loser and 30 the SCF winner.

Also, the draft isn't snake-like. :)

As a Ranger fan, I'd be incredibly thrilled if the Rangers got Petrov in the 1st, and Staal in the 2nd round.

I think if Fletcher is at the helm he drafts Colin Wilson over Mikkael Boedker.

Fletcher has stressed size and skill for this team, and I think 6'2 200+lbs Colin Wilson fits that bill.

And Derek Grant going top 60? I thought he would be a later round pick, like 4th-5th round..

Then why not get Beach?

Grant is ranked 40th NA skater by CSB.

Yeah your right about Grant, I believe he made a huge jump then on the last CSB rankings..I had him ranked lower on my lists. I guess late 2nd early 3rd would be a spot he could go. Need to update mine.

And about Beach, I don't think they take him because he's a headcase and didn't show up in the playoffs. Colin Wilson has the bloodlines, work ethic, size, and skill the Leafs are looking for. Seems like a more logical fit there then Becah who has had dicipline problems, concussion problems, and playoff problems.

I'd be surprised if they took Beach at 7th. Then again I'm not Fletcher..I just think there are better options at number 7. Boedker isn't a bad choice either, I mean he's my 3rd favourite at that position (and it's not a huge range between the players I like at number 7).

But overall good list. I'm sure I'll be tweaking my list over the course of the next month to try and make it more realistic and reasonable.

Yeah, I was thinking they would go more for a winger given they already have young centremen in: Antropov, Steen, Stajan, Tlusty, Wellwood, Newbury

Whereas for young wingers they only really have: Kulemin and Earl

They could obviously convert some centremen, but only the only real goal scorer is Antropov. WHo knows, maybe Filatov will be available too if theyre lucky.

As for Grant, I was pretty much just guessing, as its obviously a crapshoot at that point. I dont follow the juniors nearly enough to say this guy is clearly a better pick than this guy. I looked at what each team needed, and judged based on the ISS/CSB rankings. I really wasnt sure about the Euros, though, and where they rank relative to the NA skaters.

i dont think the flyers go goalie, they usually never draft one high. i think we could probably go defense and i have looked at many that will be in this draft and i have so far found 2 i like and hope the flyers look at. these scouting reports are from Bill Meltzer.

Philip Larsen - is a Danish defenseman (plays in the swedish elite league). He's very mobile and smart with the puck -- higher offensive upside than Motin, -- but needs to get considerably stronger physically

Johan Motin - Motin is considered to be a very good skater. Defensive D who is a mature player for his age and started out the year in the Elite League with Färjestad but struggled a bit and was loaned to a minor league team (Bofors). I thought he was very good at the WJC for the Swedes-- and won't even turn 19 until the fall, which is why he wasn't eligible for the draft last year.
