Slingbox sounds promising. Is Slingbox something I use on the PC and then stream to the TV?

My only question is, I live in Nassau, all of my family is out in Suffolk. Would I be able to stream what is on their box on my computer or TV?

I purchase my family in Suffolk a Slingbox, I can then access their box on my PC and then stream it on my TV?

Am I understanding that correctly, because if so, I can save a lot of money getting rid of Optimum and just keeping their internet service. Paying close to $200/month for a service you barely use is pointless.

If that is the case, I can have my family get an extra box (I can use that as my personal box so it doesn't interfere with what they are watching and I can give them the extra $10/month for it), but them a sling box for $150 and I would have access to watch the Rangers, year round, legally?

slingbox is good. So long as you have a strong internet connection.

Let me ask about the picture quality another way. I watch on a 110" 1080p front projector. Any idea how much quality I'd be giving up going the Slingbox route (assuming strong internet connection) vs. watching directly on MSG HD via FiOS?

That I couldn't tell you. What you could try is buy the sling box, set it up, check it out. Do so soon. If you don't like the quality, return it. I used it on a 60" and the quality was good.
