I know it's a nit pick but was Trotz really fired or just didn't have his contract renewed? Fired suggests that he was terminated prior to the end of his contract. The effect is the same but I don't think he was fired.

I noticed that "fired" was the language in the article on Trotz in another thread. But that may be more akin to using "strike" instead of "lockout"--technically they're different but the results are the same. Personally, I'm with you. When we hire a person to do a job for x amount of time and that time is fulfilled, they move on or we issue another contract.

trotz wasn't fired. his contract was set to expire july 31 I think. I don't know when he took the caps job, but if it were before then I am guessing they voided what was left o he could move on
