Now that we've finished our top 5, I thought it'd be fun to do one last one. The worst Canes goalie. Which netminder is the most reviled in a team rife with goalie let downs. We'll only be using those goalies still in play and once again, let's only evaluate based on their time as a Hurricane.

So first, our top 5 in their full glory:

Either Grahame or Leighton

Other guys sucked for a handful of games, but those two sucked for multiple seasons. Pete Dawg's one not crappy season absolves him, barely, in my opinion.

If I had to choose one, I'd go with Grahame. For some reason I remember him sucking worse.

Don't forget about Jamie Storr. He had a 2.91 GAA when no one in the NHL could score. And didn't win a single game. Impressive.

Very true, but we only had to endure him for a dozen or so games.

Gut reaction, I agree Storr was the one that I thought was the worst. But given the situation of Grahame being the guy brought in to slowly usher Cam into the starting role, and how terribly he performed at that, I went with him.

Grahame was the worst terrible long-term goalie we've had and that's not even close. But overall, it's easily Jamie Sieve.

From what I've watched over the years, it's down to Grahame or Leighton for me too, and I went Grahame. More because I despise Grahame as a human being as well as think he's a terrible goaltender. Leighton does have the amazing fainting goat antics. He is the Will Ferrell of our netminding community thanks to how absurdly he overcommitted to every shot. Good God. Leighton also almost won due to the horribad performance where we lost a 4 ****ing goal lead to the Flyers.

But yeah, this guy

So I'm curious - obviously aware Grahame was awful between the pipes for us and I'd heard about the heat he drew in Russia, but what else did the guy have going on?

I don't have any actual evidence of him being a jerk other than his arrest in Russia. He just always struck me as unlikeable, long before he ever came to Carolina. That and the alien looking bikini girl on his mask in that picture. What an ass hat.

I always loved that he got so much crap about that that he had the mask redone.

I remember there being a game where Grahame had made some kind of comment about putting on a display of world class goaltending then proceeded to get lit up. Lavi left him in for like 7 goals I think.

I voted Storr. When he wasn't playing, he sat on the bench through the whole game with his helmet on so he wouldn't take a puck to the head...I wondered what the other players thought of this. Strange guy.

Gotta be between Leighton and Grahme, and unfortunately for Cam Ward these are the two guys who backed him up in his early to mid 20's which pretty much forced Cam to play more than half a season every year.

I guess if I had to pick one, it would be Leighton. He was so unreliable I couldn't believe he even had an NHL job. Even today Flyers fans blame him for losing in 2010 and to be honest I don't blame them. And that game in Philadelphia in 2008 where he blew a 4 goal 3rd period lead? Yeah it was either that or play Cam into a possible early retirement.

HM to Justin Peters. Thought this guy would be a reliable backup when the team called him up that one season, only then to see him become Michael Leighton 2.0. Anyone remember the game against Chicago I think where he allowed 4 goals in like 5 minutes? We were ahead 3-0 in that game.

God we had a Prime Cam Ward and this team gave him quite possibly the worst backup goaltenders ever.
