Who would win? Go go go.
Pretty even split..
Bobby Hull - Wayne Gretzky - Gordie Howe
Phil Esposito - Jean Beliveau - Mike Bossy
Bill Cook - Bobby Clarke - Brett Hull
Charlie Conacher - Syl Apps - Bernie Geoffrion
Best line for A-H:
Best line for I-Z
Haha, the best part is Orr is my favourite player ever...complete idiocy...
Well at least it puts an end to my internal Lidstrom/Potvin struggle..
Bobby Hull - Gretzky - Howe
Esposito - Beliveau - Bossy
Conacher - Clarke - Cook
Bathgate - Apps - Geoffrion
Harvey - Bourque
Coffey - Fetisov
Chelios - Clancy
Messier - Lemieux - M. Richard
Lindsay - Morenz - Jagr
Kharlamov - Mikita - Lafleur
Sakic - Trottier - Makarov
Orr - Lidstrom
Shore - Potvin
Kelly - Robinson
The I-Z Team seems better to me, which makes sense since they have way more of the alphabet to select players from. What was the reason for making H/I the cutoff?
EDIT: Originally had Schmidt at 4th line RW and Yzerman as an extra, then substituted Makarov
Hull Gretzky Howe
Esposito Beliveau Bossy
Apps Clarke Cook
Conacher Dionne Bathgate
Lindsay Lemieux Richard
Kharlamov Mikita Jagr
Messier Morenz Lafleur
Mahovlich Yzerman Makarov
Forwards might be pretty close with A-H having more high end talent but I-Z having more depth. I-Z have far better defenceman, as you could argue that the sixth best defenceman on that team is better than the third best on A-H. I would give A-H the goaltending edge, but overall I think I-Z is clearly better.
I like the Makarov pick. I think I'm going to have to edit my team
I thought because H is such a valuable number and in general the earlier letter have more people that would be the fairest way to split it.
New question: which splitting point produces the most even teams H-I? K-L? L-M?
Adding K to the first team would make them closer. I think L is the letter that's the tipping point. That would send Lemieux, Lafleur, Lidstrom to the other team (Kharlamov would already be there). The question is, are the teams most even with the L's on the first team or the second?
I agree with this. A-L would be too dominant. A-K would give the first team a much needed left wing in Kharlamov, a much needed defenceman in Kelly and another great scorer in Jagr.
Team A-H would probably win.
Second team. Orr is the difference maker IMO.
