Canada dominating while winning few individual awards is hardly surprising for a Mike Babcock-coached team that is executing his system to perfection. The IIHF doesn't hand out awards for best coach (Babcock almost certainly would have won) or best defensive forward (which would have gone to someone on Canada), so it's pretty similar to the 2007-08 Red Wings. Outside of the Selke (which doesn't have an analogue here) the only person winning awards with Lidstrom who was clearly the best defenseman in the league, but the team dominated with Babcock's system.

Say what you will about Price. Sure any goalie might have won those games - with Canada's defence.

But when was the last time a goaltender allowed one goal only in three elimination games to close out the Olympics and claim gold?
Great defence, sure, but he faced a fair amount of shots from Sweden and US in a best on best tournament, and shut them out. Has that ever happened?

You said it man! Offence wins games, defense championships. Babcock is definetively one of the best coaches there are but it would have been a pretty difficult choice between him and Erkka Westerlund IMO.

Babcock got his team to do what was expected, Westerlund got his team to do more than what was expected? Which one wins...

Westerlund and it's not even close. Nolan would have just as convincing argument over Babs, and I'm a Wings fan....
