I think he ends up a 3-4. Ideally a second pair guy but can play top pair effectively in the right situation.

Well, yes. For example if he would come in any team with another elite young defenseman (i.e. Buffalo) or established prime veteran like Hedman who probably will be their number 1 defenseman for a little while, Romanov won't be number 1 defenseman most likely.

I don’t think he has the offense to ever be a legit #1 but if his all round game translates I think his ceiling is a stud #2 who ideally plays beside #1RHD with skill.

The offense isnt there for me to bet on top 2, but I do think he could play on a top pair as a more defensive minded guy. I could see him having a Brad Stuart type career

Realistically ceiling id think is Ekholm type player 30-40 pts, good in his own end and a nasty piece of work. Solid number 2 dman.

But since he hasn't played a game yet we really can't be too sure. Could end up as a 1, a 4, or back in Russia tbh.

But again best guess is a 2/3 guy which is superb value for a second rounder.

It's like the difference between #1 and #2, both are in the same pairing but #1 and #3 guy is the top on his pairing.
