Alex 50 Goals again? 100 points for Nicky?

Can they both be done? Through 46 games, Ovi's got 27 goals and Nicklas has 47 points. If Ovi was to hit that mark it would be the 6th time he has done so extending that record and for Nicky 100 points would be the first time since his only century season in 2009-10.

I don't begrudge personal milestones to these two because Alex has taken all manner of crap from every idiot talking head and Backstrom is so far under the radar and he really shouldn't be.

This looks like a legitimate thread about player stats. Don't bash it or take it off topic. If you do not like this topic, avoid the thread.

wasn't bashing at all,.. I literally just meant, let's get a cup :yo:

anyway, I think Nicky will fall short of that goal and ovie will push 45-50 range.

with malkin and bobrovsky hurt for the ASG, I wonder who's next now? Was malkin in as a Center?

Really think it will be a while before another Cap reaches 100 points in a season.

I don't see any way Backstrom hits 100 points. I could definitely see Ovechkin hitting 50 goals but I don't think it is going to happen.

ovechkin has these goal runs every season. its always something that starts in December or January. Its like the rest of the league slows down and he doesn't.

Ov and Backstrom are a percentage of Ov's high number of goal posts from being on that pace now. I'd say its possible.

The key will be whether the Trotz style of game wears down the league or wears down the Caps. If the Caps hold up, then the Caps style will create increased PP opps and that will elevate Ov's shot at 50. Backstrom's shot is heavily reliant on keep his goal scoring rate up. If he scores 30 then 100 points is reasonable.

Backstrom would have to put up 53 points over the last 36 games to reach 100. That is a 121 point pace over a full season. Not a chance...

I voted no/no, though Ovie may get close. I just think Trotz is going to really, really focus on locking things down in the 2nd half especially after the way the first one ended. Ovie will rack up PP goals and some ES goals to boot, but he's probably not going to be freewheeling it on a scoring mission.

Just to be clear i didn't just post this to start any kind of point or view i genuinely think these milestones are within reach and will be down to the wire and due to the Caps likely being in a scrap for a higher seeding. You won't be seeing Ovi or Nick taking many games off or coasting and that's why i think they can both surpass or come close to the totals i posted.

Neither.

Seguin is the only player to hit 100 points this season and Ovechkin wins the Richard with 47 goals.

I don't think either gets there. Ovechkin might, but Backstrom's too far back IMO. Barring an absolutely dynamite pickup for the first line that makes their scoring explode...

Definitely no on Backstrom. He needs a legit 1RW to get to 100 given the fact he's not a scorer himself. He needs more than Ovechkin to feed.

Yes on Ovechkin.

There is a good possibility for Ovechkin to reach 50 goals. I think the chances of Backstrom hitting 100 are smaller than Ovechkin's for 50, with all due respect to his great talent. Backstrom will definitely continue having a great season though, imo.

will 19 outscore 87?

He's got a chance. :)

The Pens have only 13 home games left and 20 road games.

Even though SC is averaging a higher PPG on the road than at home (1.19 PPG versus 1.08 PPG), I think he'll come back down to earth in that regard.

He got 3 points against the Leafs on the road as well as 5 points against moribund Buffalo. Other than those two games he's got 17 points in 19 games on the road. (.89 PPG)

Second one on the poll sounds about right. 100 points for Backy sound unrealistic, unless he totally ups his game right now.

Yeah I think it gets overlooked quite a bit, but Backstrom is right there for the Art Ross.
