Also no way in hell Aho is traded to the Leafs outside of Matthews there isn't a player or asset the Leafs have that would be worth the trade
Trust me Nylander for Aho would be worth the trade for us Leafs.
And Marner to the Stars for Jason Robertson.
And Tavares on LTIR and replaced by Stamkos
Matthews, Aho, Stamkos and Robertson, that's not a bad top 4...

I believe the relevant question is: how is building around Aho for Cup runs working for you?
Aho isn't really the problem there. He is the best player on the team and has shown it the past few playoffs imo. Excellent two-way player, but, like all teams, you need more than just one player to win it all.

They aren't building much around him is more the problem than anything Aho is doing himself. He had a great series against us.

And, of course, the coach’s comments after a loss in Detroit when he said: “I thought our best forward was David Booth, which is good for him but not good for us.”

Almost $10M for a 2C? Good luck building the rest of the team when you’ll have over $20M strapped to two forwards.
Dallas is one of the best teams in the league and is paying Seguin 9.85M and Benn 9.5M, who were their 6th and 7th best forwards in P/GP behind Robertson, Pavelski, Hintz, Duchene and Johnston.

how many times did he get to a cup final or conference final? Stats are nice in the regular season. But playoffs it is all about winning

It's not easy to maintain scoring in the playoffs. In that way, Aho elevates his game. Since 2019, he's within striking distance (.06) of Tkachuk, Matthews and Point, and north of Barkov, Pastrnak and Panarin on a per game basis.

Stop looking at regular season point totals.

I am tired of these dumbasses who are unable to distinguish between team efforts and accomplishments versus individual efforts and accomplishments.

Hockey is a TEAM SPORT. In fact, it is TEAMS that advance or not. TEAMS!

I hope the above usage of crayons helped you comprehend that rather simple factoid. If not, good luck to you on your future journeys through space and time.

Dude---that is my point. Teams advance. Stats are good for regular season--but come playoff times? It is all about wins and loses and that is it. Stats are nice. But it is about wins and loses.

last 5 playoffs the canes have gotten past the 2nd round once and lost 0-4 to the Panthers

Fine. Then talk about teams, not individual players. In that case we are on the same page. Not even Bobby Orr was solely responsible for team success or lack thereof.

Aho is one of the best centers in the league and played like it during the Rangers series, at least the games I saw.

I don't know why posters feel the need to make a teams failures about one player. Its almost like they feel that Carolina has been unfortunate to have drafted Aho.

Sebastian Aho is not really seen as a playoff specialist but despite this he's managed to become the first player to score at least 10 points or more in each of his first 6 playoff runs. One would think that this would be a record that Wayne Gretzky holds, but Gretzky had an embarrassing first playoff showing back in 1980 were he only had 3 points. After that he did put up 11 straight double digit playoff runs. Ironically this is a record that was held by Jean Beliveau who had 5 straight double digit playoff runs in the 1950s. Once again it's Sebastian Aho sticking it to the Montreal Canadiens and continuing the beef between the Canes and the Habs. Too bad Aho has no shot at winning the cup as he's forced to drag weak temamates like Teravainen and Kotkaniemi along for the ride. Imagine if he actually had some talent beside him to play with. Aho is the underrated kind of player that my Leafs would need as the "big" 4 on the Leafs only have 1 double digit playoff run each in their careers. Hoping we can trade Nylander for Aho this offseason for a needed shakeup...
Trading William Nylander for Sebastian Aho would be a mistake for the Hurricanes for several reasons:

  1. Aho's Central Role in the Hurricanes' Success: Sebastian Aho is a cornerstone of the Hurricanes' roster. As their top center, he drives the team's offense and plays a critical role in both regular season and playoff performances. His consistency, as evidenced by his six consecutive double-digit playoff point runs, is integral to the team's competitive edge.
  2. Versatility and Leadership: Aho is not just a prolific scorer but also a versatile player who excels in various aspects of the game, including faceoffs, penalty killing, and power play situations. His leadership on and off the ice is invaluable, and trading him would leave a significant gap in these areas.
  3. Chemistry with Teammates: Aho has established strong chemistry with his linemates. Disrupting this chemistry could negatively impact the overall team dynamics and performance. The familiarity and synergy he has with his teammates are assets that would be hard to replace.
  4. Nylander's Fit and Consistency: While William Nylander is a talented player, his fit within the Hurricanes' system is uncertain. Nylander has shown flashes of brilliance but has also struggled with consistency. A trade involving such a critical player as Aho would be risky if Nylander fails to adapt or maintain the level of performance expected.
  5. Leadership and Marketability: Aho is a fan favorite and a face of the franchise. His departure could not only affect team morale but also fan engagement and ticket sales. The Hurricanes benefit from Aho's marketability and his role as a leader within the team and community.
In summary, Sebastian Aho's integral role, proven playoff performance, leadership, and established chemistry with teammates make him far too valuable for the Hurricanes to consider trading him for William Nylander.

Would mean more if he had gotten passed the 2nd round more than once.
Would it?

Isn't it more impressive to break 10 points 6 times in a row while only getting past the 2nd round once? If he had made the finals 6 years in a row, then breaking 10 points in all 6 years would have been far easier to do.
