Previously, we were watching (via JWc updates) a game start well and then abruptly take an ugly turn for the worse:
Koules goal puts Monsters ahead of Syracuse 1-0 in the first

2-0 Abramov goal

15:50 - 1

2-1

Cam Gaunce scores for Syracuse on power play

16:44 - 1

3-2 Syracuse, 2nd period

Gaunce's second of game

4-2 Syracuse - 2nd intermission

5-2 Syracuse

6:54 - 3

This has taken a turn for the worse, to say the least.

5-3

Koules' second of the game

6-3 Syracuse - empty-net goal

I'll post the lines later.

Went to the game on the Cleveland Hockey Boosters bus trip. About 40 or so people went. Game started out great but took a bad turn late in the first. Too many guys out to keep up. Really don't know what they are trying to do but they have stretches where they look clueless. You can see the frustration but nothing gets better. The power play is awful. They had another 5 on 3 power play and they only allowed Syracuse 2 shots. It is like they are on the penalty kill instead of the power play. Guys were nice after the game as we waited by the bus when they came out, even after the tough loss. Loved the old time hockey atmosphere at the arena. It was weird going into an event and not having to empty your pockets and walk through metal detectors. Ex-Monster Cameron Gaunce was first star of the game and skated right over to our group to throw the shirt into the crowd. Class move. Really a fun place to watch hockey. Having been to the old arena in Cleveland to see the Crusaders and the Aud in Buffalo when it was still around, I loved the nostalgic feeling.

If anyone should be in the ECHL its Kivlenieks. That kid needs more playing time and he is not ready for the AHL. His piss poor stats from last year are even worse this season.

Playing Kivlenieks is unfair to the rest of the team. I know Berube and Thiessen have not played great this year but they have both proven they can win at this level. Let the two of them steady the goalie situation...next year hopefully everything changes in Cleveland in goal.
