A personal favorite of mine right now is Chris Hemsworth, though I understand why he wouldn't be considered a top-tier actor for others yet. He's done such a great job with Thor, and I'm excited to see him in Men in Black.

Pitt is near the top for current actors. Does have some big "misses" though, where a bad part or film just drags him down.

The current most charismatic lead actor? All-time?

The current most talent proven lead actor? All-Time?

By talent proven, I mean successful wide range of roles completed successfully and/or multiple difficult roles.

Odd enough, I don't think he fits the bill, but James Franco got me thinking about this (pretty solid odd/different range of roles he's excelled at thus far in his career: 127 Hours, Spring Breakers, Milk, City By The Sea, and even Why Him/Pineapple Express honestly.)

Charles Laughton, Barbara Stanwyck, Jack Lemmon, Alec Guinness, Toshiro Mifune, Sidney Poitier, Dustin Hoffman, Merle Streep, Robert Downey Jr

Tough to name one all time but Douglas Fairbanks would be my choice, sadly few see his films anymore. Larger then life screen presence.
