Not sure where to ask this, but the Canucks have been linked to discussions with Matt Hendricks and we've had some confusion about what type of role he played for you. Did he play center, wing or a little bit of everything? Also, is he any good or what?

As for Ballard, I think he would be great for you guys if you played him with Carlson. I wouldn't recommend pairing him with Green though.

He played C or LW, depending on how the 4th line was set up (if they had an extra lefty or extra righty). Played LW any time he was tried on higher lines.

He's good at faceoffs and his shootout paralyzer seems to still be working for him. He's a big time PK guy but the PK sucked so maybe he's not that valuable there. He'll fight but he'll lose. Not anything special in terms of defensive value but a bit better than just a faceoff specialist. Better than average offense for a typical 4th liner I guess but not a standout there either.

I'm drooling.

Cap space is the only price to get him. Do it, George. Pay 1M more than the market dictates! I mean 4-4,5M is high... but this D!

I think Orlov is done here. Bruce didn't like him that much, Hunter didn't like him, and Oates too. That says something

Orlov played 60 games season ago. Got 19 points. As a rookie. I don't think he is already done.

Especially I don't think he has no chance to prove himself better than Hillen and Erskine.

I really like Scuderi, but signing him would end any chance we have at a legitimate 2C. Laich and Johansson didn't work at 2C in 2011-2012, so I don't know why we would try that experiment again. However, if we sign Scuderi and try that 2C experiment again, we'll be screwed in 2014-2015 once we repeat that disaster and find we have no cap room to do anything about it.

Why, o why, did we sign a grinder like Laich to a 4.5M contract through 2016-2017. The contract is untradable, yet not bad enough to justify a compliance buyout.

A remarkable testament to the power of media narrative, the contract is actually quite tradable...if he's healthy.

I never got the love for Laich. Does that salary include oil changes and tire rotations for the entire team?He makes near Kesler money and earned it mostly from riding along a hot power play. Brouwer seems to have replaced him there. I don't think he's a bad player just not worth that amount.

I wouldn't get my hopes up, but yes that is a nice lineup.

I don't want Laich on the team. He is so average at everything. Ugh.

If he really makes $4.5 million per year then Ted and George are invincible ignoramuses. Holy crap.

I guess Laich gets special treatment because Ted and George traded Peter Bondra for him. So he must be good?

Holy ****...

Captain/Coach Hindsight all-around these days, and we even have our very own resident sports psychologist. How lucky..

I kind of miss lurking here back when this team REALLY sucked.

Actually there are several wingers who could be traded easily. Just there is no need right now. Should we acquire a proper 2C, GMGM will trade someone soon enough. Just that's not so easy to do in reality (2C).

There is no solution to 2C now, it seems, and that's why it'll logical to fix 2LD while we see several candidates at the market. Add Gilbert, Ference, Scuderi, Avs' ones. There are defenders and there are teams with out much cap space. Should be doable.

People seem to forget about Kuznetsov....

As it stands, looking at MoJo and Laich as wingers, that is Ovi, MoJo, Kuzya, Brouwer, Laich, and Erat as wingers that should be able to play at a top 6 level. Then remember Ward, Fehr, Chimera, and Volpatti.

10 total wingers...

So when they signed Nate Schmidt there were comparisons to Justin Shultz. If so we should be seeing this guy soon. Right?

Schmidt was labelled Schultz-lite. He needs some more seasoning in the A, but I think he'll get a couple re-calls this year.

I certainly hope so. One bad year but otherwise a track record of good fancystats, good two-way play, good production... of course you wonder about the price but I really hope the interest is there.

Also, thank you Nonis, for providing positively Holmgrenian entertainment value. Now please go blow your cap space on Bozak and Clarkson...

I swear, everyone on here must be insecure and their significant other sports a Laich jersey.

In 11-12 (hurt most of last year he had 41 pts, 2nd in PP goals, 1st in game winners, led forwards in blocked shots, and 1st in takeaways.

What a terrible player.

I like where your head's at...

(Though I do wonder if Ference would really do all that well with tough minutes, but I'd take him over Erskine easily).

Johansson was from an experienced, fully developed nhl player at that time. Laich has no playmaking skills in the center of the ice and really isn't a center. Johansson is a solid playmaker.

I think the book is far from written on Johansson as a center.
