It used to be very cool to see the U of M win national titles with all Minnesota born players.

It will never happen for the Wild, but it would be cool to see the Wild gather a significant percentage of Minnesota born players, 30-40%, and win a cup.

If this homecoming thing takes root, so far Parise in the only Minnesotan, but Vanek and Suter have connections, it could be incredible.

Wheeler, Okposo, Backes, McDonough, Martin, Nelson, etc. the talent is there. Goalie is the problem.

Yeah that has crossed my dream mind also, and it would be even better if the coach was a Minnesotan. Winning the SC with a group like that would be the ultimate.

I just thought of a bad side, what if the team turns out to be really sucky. That would be like yanking my heart out and then a monkey picks it up and uses it like a racket ball.

LOL

I remember the glory days of Canadien hockey, with mainly Quebec born guys. That would be the equivalent of the greatness I could see for the Wild.

It is interesting that Minnesota really hasn't produced any elite goaltending talent. Stalock is probably the best one. I wonder if Wilcox will take the lead for MN goalies.

If I remember correctly the Gophers would have all MN players on the team with the only exception on occasion would be the Goaltender.

I really did think that Robb Stauber was going to have an all-star type career.

And nobody could understand our guys either when they spoke because of the thick Minnesotan accent.

Hauser was from MN. The '02 national championship team was all Minnesotans.

I'd sub out Bjugstad for Cullen!

Soooo I guess that means no Okposo. :(

Doing Okposo instead of Wheeler would add an additional 2.8 million in cap space, and use that to get someone else. Like Stepan who would fit in at that point too.

I'd sub out Bjugstad for Cullen!

That would save more cap too. I sorted the list of active Minnesotans by points and Cullen is at the top so I must've missed Bjugstad.

A place.
What percentage of our team is Minnesotan now? And what percentage of it is Finnish?

Maybe Minnesota should secede from the USA and join Finland. We'd be unstoppable in international play! :naughty:

and being MinneFinnish we could claim Barkov and Rask as our very own.
