Actually Zibanejad is pretty good, but despite being #6 in 2011, didn't break out until this season at age 24. Was a better ES scorer in Ottowa but has become a better all around player in NY. Just another reason to be patient with our five 21 and younger players.

The Bruins gave up quite a lot to rent Rick Nash, Spooner, Lindgren D (#49-2016) and their 2018 1st rd pick.
Kreider - Zianejad - Spooner would be a solid 2nd line, unfortunately for the Rangers it's their 1st line.

Chytil centering the 2nd line? He's 18, came over from Czech republic to the AHL, 45g 11-20 31, which is nice for his age, but this is force feeding a kid for a look see.

They do have some nice pieces for a rebuild, Namestnikov, Buchnevich, Andersson, etc.
But that defense right now is pretty dreadful.

Say we lose in regulation and miss the playoffs but get rid of Hak, Lehtera, Weise, Manning and maybe MacDonald in the offseason OR say we win, put out the same slow stiffs in the bottom 6 F and 4 D and lose in a very ugly fashion but Hak keeps his job.

Both of those scenarios have pros and cons.

Ideally: we get to the playoffs, bring up the young guys and bench Lehtera, Read, Flip, Manning and even MacDBag and Hak loses his job in the offseason. That would be ideal but seems very unrealistic

Staal and Lundqvist are the only two guys left from that roster. They don't care. Not saying the won't try to win because of course they will, but not because of 2010.
