It’s way more common than you think. It has its own lingo - coach speak. Where they say things that don’t really mean much. Coaches, managers, agents, etc are all smokes and mirrors. Zegras said the game versus the kings felt like a playoff game, yet he’s never been in an NHL playoff game.
I understand the difference between filing space and making an assertion. "We'll be .500." "I want prospects overripe." "I want guys playing their strong sides." That's not spin, those are concrete, verifiable things.

He really shouldn’t even be a center, unless he has a winger who can help him win faceoffs. He has been a terrible faceoff guy for years and he hasn’t gotten any better. If he isn’t going to bring offense, then he better figure out what he’s good at.

There was a player you wanted as a bottom-6 and part of the reason was he was good at faceoffs. That player didn't get better at the FO dot until later in his age and Lundy is about two years away from that age.
